The Arthritis Care Program

Arthritis is a leading cause of disability in elderly persons. Arthritis is a condition affecting the joints, especially the hip and the knee. The joint is protected by a covering called cartilage that helps in its smooth movement. Arthritis is due to wear and tear of the joint, leading to softening and damage of protective cartilage of the joint, causing severe pain and inability to walk or climb stairs normally.

The treatment of knee arthritis are mainly exercise, medication and lifestyle modification if it is detected in the early stage, whereas in advanced stages, Joint Replacement Surgery is the only option. In patients with moderate stage of arthritis and who cannot undergo Joint Replacement Surgery and in whom there is an associated meniscal cartilage tear, Arthroscopy can give excellent improvement.

The Arthritis Care Program in Orthomed Hospital provides unequalled patient care through its integrated arthritis practice. The program was developed in response to the well-recognized need for an inter-professional, patient-centred collaborative approach to better manage patients with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. The medical personnel (doctors & therapists) work in synergy to devise an arthritis treatment plan that meets each patient’s unique needs. In case of surgery, the offers state-of-the-art technology and utilizes minimally invasive surgical options whenever possible.
